Welcome to the home of Das TeufelsAlpdrücken Fähnlein, or the Devil's Nightmare Regiment. We are an award-winning historical reenactment unit based in Crownsville, MD. The members of the Devil's Nightmare Regiment portray the Landsknecht mercenaries and campfollowers of 16^th century Europe.

Landsknechts were the premier fighting force of the Renaissance. Formed in the late 15^th century by Emperor Maximillian I of the Holy Roman Empire, these soldiers were involved in almost every major military campaign throughout the 16^th century. Using infantry and pike tactics taken from the Swiss and the ancient Romans, they adapted them to devastating effect.

The DNR has performed at military reenactments and renaissance festivals throughout Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. We are available for historical reenactments and showcases, school programs, civic events, and renaissance festivals.
